I am pleased to report that HLP is playing a vital role in helping homeowners communicate with their mortgage servicers about property damage caused by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.
To date, more than 3,000 homeowners have registered with HLP to request assistance in delaying their mortgage payments. The mortgage loans held by these homeowners are serviced by 15 different mortgage companies. Hundreds of homeowners have registered their requests daily since our site was created on September 8, and I expect these numbers to continue to climb.
Many homeowners are recording their information on HomeownerConnect.org, which is an HLP website. A homeowner only needs to provide their name, property address, contact information and a brief description of their property damage. They also need to provide the name of their mortgage servicer. Once they hit “Submit” on the form, HLP has a permanent record and sends it to the servicer for action.
Our communications platform is a quick and easy way for homeowners, nonpro t counseling organizations and servicers to create a permanent record, share updated contact information and explain how the property and/ or ability to make mortgage payments has been impacted. This peace of mind allows the homeowner to start focusing on recovering and rebuilding from these disasters.
Homeowners can upload and submit any documents required by their servicer to be considered for a suspension of mortgage payments or other assistance.
